Savotta Side Pouches

Savotta Side Pouches provide modular storage space that is PALS/MOLLE compatible, and available in 4 different volumes/sizes. All Side Pouches sport covered zippers, an internal flat pocket, a 25mm D-ring with webbing loop, a draining grommet, reinforced bottoms and sides as well as front vertical webbing loops for securing carabiners, compression straps or other attachments. Compatible with all of Savotta's Jaakari backpack line, the Savotta Side Pouch is perfect for easy to access stowage of rain gear, thermal layers, tarps, water bottles, stoves, etc..

4L Side Pouch

The 4L Side Pouch is small and compact, best suited to smaller packs like the Jaakari S, (but compatible with the full Jaakari line). Optimal PALS attachment requires a width of three channels and a height of five (min. four) rows of webbing. Your packs side compression straps will, when tightened down, eliminate any movement of the pouch and its contents. The 4L Side Pouch is useful for stowing smaller items such as:

• A medium size tarp and accessories
• A lightweight mid layer, rain suit or poncho
• A regular 1.5 litre beverage bottle
• A 0.7 litre insulated food jar
• Small stove such as an Optimus Svea or Crux burner and one gas cartridge

6L Side Pouch

The 6L Side Pouch is a medium sized pouch that fits all of Savotta's Jääkäri line of packs (Jääkäri S/M/L/XL). Optimal attachment requires a width of four channels and a height of six (min. five) rows of PALS webbing. Your packs side compression straps will, when tightened down, will eliminate any movement of the pouch and its contents. The two vertical attachment straps leave a approx. 9 cm wide gap between them, this allows you to carry items such as axes, fishing poles etc. stuffed down behind the pouch. On packs with less than six rows of PALS webbing on the sides the bottom of the pouch will “hang”. You can let the side compression straps take care of that, or you can choose to attach the pouch, one step higher up on the side of the pack. The 6L Side Pouch is useful for stowing smaller items such as:

• A large tarp and accessories
• A hammock and underquilt
• A midlayer jacket and pants or rainwear
• Two regular 1,5 litre beverage bottles
• A Trangia 27-series stove, fuel and some stuff to cook
• An Svea stove, or Crux with gas cartridge, water and some stuff to cook
• 24h worth of rations and snacks

8L Side Pouch

The 8L Side Pouch is a large sized pouch that is designed for Savotta's Jääkäri XL pack, or other packs in the 60 - 100L+ range. Although not recommended, you can attach it to smaller packs with an absolute minimum of five rows of PALS webbing on the sides (Jääkäri M and L for example), this is done by attaching the pouch one step higher and accepting that the bottom will be a bit floppy. Recommended and optimal attachment requires a width of four channels and a height of seven (min. six) rows of PALS webbing. Your packs side compression straps will, when tightened down, eliminate any movement of the pouch and its contents. The two vertical attachment straps leave a approx. 9 cm wide gap between them, this allows you to carry items such as axes, fishing poles etc. stuffed down behind the pouch. The 8L Side Pouch is large and very useful for stowing larger items such as:

• A large tarp, hammock and accessories
• A hammock and underquilt
• A lightweight puffy jacket and trousers or rainwear
• A Trangia 27-series stove, fuel, water and lots of stuff to cook
• An Optimus stove, a gas cartridge, water and lots of stuff to cook
• Over 24h worth of rations and snacks
• Nearly a weeks worth of spare underwear, mid layers and socks

12L Side Pouch

The 12L Side Pouch is a large sized pouch that is designed for Savotta's Jääkäri XL pack, or other packs in the 60 - 100L+ range. Although not recommended, you can attach it to smaller packs with an absolute minimum of six rows of PALS webbing on the sides. This is done by attaching the pouch, one step higher and accepting that the bottom will be floppy. Recommended and optimal attachment requires a width of five channels and a height of eight (min. seven) rows of PALS webbing. Your packs side compression straps will, when tightened down, eliminate any movement of the pouch and its contents. The two vertical attachment straps leave a approx. 13 cm wide gap between them, this allows you to carry items such as axes, fishing poles etc. stuffed down behind the pouch. The 12L Side Pouch is very large and useful for stowing larger items such as:

• A large tarp, hammock, underquilt and accessories
• A lightweight puffy jacket, trousers and rainwear
• A Trangia 27-series stove, fuel, water and lots of stuff to cook
• An Optimus stove, a few gas cartridges, water and lots of stuff to cook
• A few days worth of rations and snacks
• A weeks worth of spare underwear, mid layers and socks
• All sorts of large special stuff you may need to carry
