The Gransfors Bruk American Felling Axe is an ideal axe if you're dealing with big timbers and want to take them down in a hurry.
The Gransfors American Felling Axe comes in three variations, all with a 3.3 lb head but with different handles. Gransfors offers a 35" handle, a 31" handle, or a 31" straight handle.
Like all Gransfors axes, the Gransfors' American Felling Axe is hand forged in Sweden and bears the initials of the smith who made it. The axe head is hand forged out of a solid piece of steel and carefully tempered and sharpened.
The traditional American single-bit axe was originally asked for by Geoffrey Burke, a boat-builder and axe man in New Hampshire. He and an axe collector by the name of Lawrence Lyford helped to build just the right model.
The head of the Gransfors Bruk American Felling Axe weighs 3.3 lb and the face of the bit is 4 1/2”. The axe has an American hickory handle, 35". It comes with a grain-leather sheath.
