About Katadyn
Katadyn’s history can be traced back to the invention of the use of electrolysis to deposit silver ions in water to cleanse it of bacteria by Professor Alexander Krause. In the 1930’s Katadyn began producing ceramic water filters, and moved it’s operation to Wallisellen, Switzerland, and eventually entered the municipal water treatment field through the use of UV irradiation. Eventually, Katadyn bought out Exstream and PUR outdoor (American companies), which made Katadyn the largest supplier of of potable water treatment systems, including portable seawater desalination systems.
