Keeping your Gransfors axe in top condition requires periodic maintenance from time to time. As the axe heads are made from carbon steel, they should be kept oiled to minimize rust formation (any rust that does develop is surface rust, and can be easily removed with a pot scrubber). The wooden axe handle should also be oiled to lock moisture into the handle core. This keeps the handle flexible, and prevents it from drying out, which can eventually lead to the wood becoming brittle and cracking.
